In December 2009 Coplan Estates, the mixed use regeneration specialists, and Denne, part of the Leadbitter Group and Kent’s largest contractor, were selected as preferred development partner by Canterbury City Council for the £50m mixed use redevelopment of a key council owned site within the heart of Herne Bay. This followed a competitive tendering process.

Coplan Estates is a company specialising in mixed use investment and development which concentrates on London and the South East.

Denne Construction is a major regional contractor operating throughout London and the South East of England. Denne specialise in affordable housing, residential development, and regeneration.

Herne Bay Central Development is part of a wider set of ideas being pursued in the Herne Bay Area Action Plan, which is part of the Local Development Framework. This has recently been fully supported by an independent planning inspector in his inquiry report.

The aim is to submit a planning application for the Herne Bay Central Development by summer 2011. A Public Consultation exercise was undertaken on March 24th 2010, and this provided Coplan and Denne with the opportunity to understand the general public's views on the proposals / ideas (click here to download a summary of the Herne Bay Consultation Feedback). This website, owned by Coplan Estates and Denne, working in partnership with Canterbury City Council, will be up-dated regularly to keep you in touch with progress on the development.

Chairman of the Herne Bay Regeneration Working Group, Cllr Peter Lee, said: “We are looking forward to working with Coplan and Denne and are sure their plans will be to the long term benefit of Herne Bay.”
